Welcome to Orange Tree Yoga

Orange Tree Yoga, located in Blackhall, Edinburgh.
Building Strength, Stability and Flexibility

Jayne Donald began her yoga journey 6 years ago after suffering intense back pain from years of poor posture whilst working as a Nurse and as a Midwife for over 15 years. After a few months practicing yoga weekly, she began to feel an improvement in her movements and her back pain began to fade. This increased her interest in yoga and its many health benefits, which led her to undertake teacher training and in August 2016, she became a registered yoga teacher with a 200 hour RTY qualification.

Orange Tree Yoga opened the doors in October 2016 in Blackhall.

The studio currently has space for 6 mats with all classes available to take as an online Livestream option.

There is a strong focus on Strength, Stability and Flexibility throughout each class and there are always ways to simplify each posture so that no one is left behind!

Please bring your own Mats, Blocks, Straps, and Blankets.

"Yoga does not just change the way we see things, it transforms the person who sees"
B.K.S Iyengar

The practice of modern day yoga styles has roots in hatha yoga which dates back to the 15th century.

Hatha yoga is the practice of Asanas (postures) Pranyama (breath) Mudra (gestures) and Meditation. Over the centuries Asanas have evolved and exercise every muscle in the body.

At Orange Tree Yoga we offer Vinyasa flow yoga classes,  this style of yoga links breath to movement in an energetic way.  Vinyasa flow yoga helps build strength and stamina, whilst the movement “flow” between asanas improve flexibility and stability.

Vinyasa yoga is an energetic style of yoga so if you are new to this style then you should start with a beginner’s class.

Vinyasa flow

A playful class that aims to link breath to movement as you flow from one pose to the next. Each pose is linked together creating a sequence of movement that allows for variety, with a different focus from week to week.

Beginners flow

Introduces you to the foundations of Vinyasa Flow. We look to slow down your movements in order to move safely from one asana to the next, holding each asana for up to 8 breaths increasing strength, flexibility and focus. This class is suitable for complete beginners.

Power flow

A more intense yoga practice that will increase your heart rate and challenge your strength as we begin to explore arm balances and Inversions in a little more depth. Power yoga builds on from Vinyasa flow classes and allows you to take your practice further.
